Listed below are various traditional
events popular at most wedding receptions (we know
you are already familiar with them and have given
them some thought and consideration.) You
may wish to include some or none of them at your
full and complete discretion. Clients usually
use their best man or matron of honor to communicate
to the band when and how any of these is to take
place as agreed to by the bride and groom.
Cocktail Hour:
Background music while your guests mingle
and get acquainted.
Wedding Party Introduction:
Point at which you are introduced
to your family and friends for the first time as
a married couple. It is also when your wedding party
is introduced to your guests.
Parents’ Recognition:
As above, your parents will appreciate an appropriate
introduction/recognition.
Your First Dance:
Please take a look at our songlist for ideas,
or if you prefer, we can play a song that you provide
on CD over the PA system as well.
Father/Daughter Dance:
Here is an opportunity for the bride and
her father to share a few quiet moments together.
Choose a song that represents something special
to both of you.
Mother/Son Dance:
Here again, is a chance for the groom and
his mother to share some time for reflection.
Dinner Music:
During the banquet, slow, background music for conversation
is most appropriate.
The Toast: This
is the time when your best man and/or your maid
of honor have a special time to express their wishes
for your future happiness.
Bouquet Toss:
The bride tosses her bouquet to all the eligible
women at the reception, traditionally of course,
to identify the next woman to “walk down the
isle.”
Garter Toss: The
groom removes the garter from the bride’s
leg, tosses it to the eligible men at the reception,
thereby selecting the next man to “tie the
not.”
Dollar Dance: Your
friends and family give you money and dance with
you briefly, enjoying the occasion to communicate
happy wishes to both of you.
